Actually, Baharampur Lok Sabha seat of Bengal has been considered the traditional seat of Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary. Adhir Ranjan has been elected MP from this seat since 1999. He has been winning elections from this seat for 5 consecutive times. However, before Congress this seat was held by RSP.

TMC has now fielded the famous face of cricket world Yusuf Pathan from here and big problems have arisen for Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and Congress. The election contest between the current MP and the former cricketer is likely to be very interesting. However, Congress has not yet officially announced the name of Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary. Congress is yet to announce the names on the seats in West Bengal.

52 percent Muslim voters on Baharampur seat
If we talk about the Muslim population in this seat, according to the 2011 census, there are approximately 52 percent Muslim voters in Baharampur Lok Sabha seat. At the same time, there are 13.2 percent SC and 0.9 percent ST voters. Mamata Banerjee’s fielding of Yusuf Pathan on this seat against Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary in her stronghold is also being considered very important from the point of view of making a dent in the Muslim votes.
On the other hand, in the first list of candidates released by BJP on March 2, candidates were declared for 20 seats in West Bengal. Among these, the candidate from Baharampur seat was also announced. BJP has fielded Dr. Nirmal Kumar Saha in the election contest from Baharampur seat. Due to this, there is a strong possibility of a triangular contest on the seat.
